Michael Pizzella was born in New Orleans and raised in Mandeville.

Growing up in Mandeville, he participated in the talented arts program, but but didn’t go to an art institute upon graduating highschool in 2002.

It wasn’t until 2005, when he began custom framing at a shop in the french quarter, that his love for the visual arts had been sparked once again.

He started drawing pastel portraits for tourists in his spare time and selling his art in the shop.  Soon after, he sold pen & ink drawings on
Jackson Square at night and on his days off.

From 2005 till 2014, he made a living framing and working for various shops, galleries, and artists, but didn’t have the time to
establish himself as a serious artist.

He decided that the only way he would be able to continue to grow as an artist would be to
have his own shop, where he would continue to custom frame, but also focus on developing his artistic abilities.  In June of 2014, he opened Pizzella Picture Framing & Fine Art.

Michael typically paints with oils, on canvas and wood panels.  He also does exceptional pen & ink illustrations.
His paintings have multiple influences and styles incorportated into them.  Michael has stated that his paintings have a bit of a personality disorder.
A hint of realism, and a bit of impressionism can be found in each individual painting.

As of now, Michael’s shop in Mandeville, Louisiana is slowly but surely gaining a reputation for the custom framing and artwork he provides to the community.
